Lifestyle newborn photography is about connection — the way you hold them, the way they fit into your space, the rhythm of your new life together.

WHEN TO BOOK
The ideal time for a newborn session is within the first 2–3 weeks, when babies are still tiny and sleepy — but truly, there’s no expiry date on capturing your story.
Many families book during pregnancy to secure their space in my diary.
Why I offer both Studio & Lifestyle Newborn Sessions
I photograph newborns in two ways — in my Edinburgh studio and in your own home.
Some families are drawn to the simplicity of studio portraits.
Soft, plain backdrops.
Controlled light.
A focus entirely on your baby and this new chapter — regardless of where you’re living or what stage your home is in.
Others love the intimacy of staying home.
Your bed.
Your sofa.
The corner where you feed at 3am.
The nursery you carefully prepared — or are still halfway through decorating.
In-home sessions feel more like storytelling.
Studio sessions feel more like portraiture.
Neither is better.
They simply preserve your beginning differently.

A Little About Me
I’m Susan — a maternity, newborn and women’s portrait photographer based in Edinburgh.
Across everything I photograph — from early motherhood to more intimate, empowering sessions — I’m drawn to the same thing:
Connection.
Strength.
Women holding their own space.
Motherhood changes you. It softens you and steadies you at the same time.
That quiet strength — the way a woman curves around her child, yet remains entirely herself — is what I look for in every session.
Whether in my studio or in your home, my work is about honouring this season honestly and beautifully.
your QUESTIONS
I don't know when my baby will be here. How do I book?
You can book anytime after your 12-week scan. You will have an estimated due date by then and I can add that to my diary to secure your space. Your baby can arrive any time in the 6 weeks surrounding that date so I will email you a gentle reminder on the week of your due date. When your baby arrives please inform me and we can confirm a suitable date for your session.
How old does my baby have to be?
Your baby is considered newborn for the first six weeks, though babies are sleepier in the first month. 1 – 3 weeks old is ideal, though in-home sessions are suitable for older babies too.
WHAT IF MY BABY IS OLDER?
Don’t panic if you think you have missed the newborn stage. We can still get beautiful shots of your baby. They may just be more awake during the session and there will be other perks, like their ability to hold up their head. Make contact and let me know your situation and together we can make a plan to have a great photoshoot.
Where will this take place?
I will come to you and I will use the natural light in your home, so the brightest part of your house would be ideal.
How long will it last?
I will only stay at your home for around 90-minutes. In-home photoshoots are still baby led, so if your child needs fed, changed or cuddled in just the right way, we let him/her have what they need.
What do I need?
I will bring some newborn clothing and swaddle blankets. Other family members will need to provide their own clothing for the photoshoot, but this doesn’t have to be brand new and I will help with the styling when we have our pre-photoshoot consultation.
When and how do I pay?
You will pay a £75 deposit when booking. The remaining balance is due on the date of the photoshoot and you will receive an email with a button to make payment. You can pay by credit or debit card.
If you want to upgrade your package once you have seen your pictures, I will send you an invoice for the additional amount.
WHAT ELSE CAN I PURCHASE?
There is a shop attached to your gallery, where you can preview your beautiful images in these wonderful products.
