Choosing what to wear to your Boudoir Photoshoot can seem like an enormous task. For those with abundance of lingerie as well as for those with none, but it’s not as hard as you may think! In my top 5 tips for choosing lingerie for your boudoir photoshoot, I want you to remember that it’s the beauty of you that I want to capture. So anything that makes you feel sexy and good about yourself is going to be ideal.

How to Start Choosing Lingerie
I would start with thinking about which body parts you love most. What do you want to accentuate and draw attention to when you see these pictures? It doesn’t always have to be boobs, bum or legs either, it can be jaw line, collar bone, wrist, ankles. To accentuate these non-obvious body parts, will be my job when I’m posing you in your photoshoot. But you will still want to make sure that you’re wearing something that makes me feel confident.
Tip No.1
The Perfect Fit
Whatever it is that you want to wear, the first step in the process is to GET FITTED!
Boobs, small or big, will not look great if your bra just doesn’t fit you. We are told to get ourselves measured frequently as our size may change. Well, I know that I barely do, and I’m sure many of you don’t either. Well now is the time and it’s the best excuse! The same goes for underpants, thongs or frilly knickers. If you bought it ten years ago and have shrunk it in the wash over time, the chances are that it won’t fit that well anymore.
Bra tips – big boobs may be more comfortable with underwiring, but whether they are small or big a T-shirt cup padding can be gapey so it’s best to avoid them unless the fit is superb. Stand in the changing room and bend forward, cross your arms over your body and then put them up over your head and see if the cup still sits well.
Stores in Edinburgh that will offer professional assistance are Victoria’s Secrets and Juliet Rose & Co, both within the St James’ Quarter (Victoria’s Secrets is within Next which has some great items in its online directory).
Anne Summers and Marks and Spencer can be found on Princes Street in Edinburgh, as well as H&M though at the moment H&M don’t offer any professional fitting service.

Tip No.2
Flattering
To flatter a tummy try high waisted underwear or a bodysuit. I have a patch of post-natal loose belly skin and feel amazing in a body suit or high waisted suspender belt. With my least favourite feature of my body tucked neatly away, my confidence soared!

Tip No.3

Introduce some colour
We all have our staple black and white underwear, but how often do you wear colourful underwear and really get to enjoy it?! At the photoshoot, you get to use two outfits, so bring that classic black lace number but also consider a colour that you love and that suits you well.
Tip No.4
Get those Sexy Legs
For some reason, wearing stockings, as tricky as they can be to get clipped on, can make you feel incredibly sexy. As a peely-wally Scot too, I love dressing up my bright white legs and not having to worry about the bruises I got playing rounders with the kids at the weekend. It’s always a good idea to size up for stockings, so that they don’t grip the top of your thighs and cause bulging.

Tip No.5
Wear what makes you feel Sexy or nothing at all!
Consider something different if you just aren’t comfortable in lingerie. There’s lots of options – other than your birthday suit. Silky fabrics, shirt, T-shirt, sports underwear, crop top. These items can be mixed and matched too. If you have a bra that you love, you can pair it with a long floaty skirt or even a pair of ripped denim shorts. I am totally up for exploring ideas and talking this through with you.
